Evaluating Existing Research
The evidence included below demonstrates my proficiency on evaluating existing research through literature reviews from project proposals, reports, and coursework.
Evidence
The application for my TRU UREAP project “The Geographies of the Nature-Culture Interface: A Holistic Evaluation of Kamloops Gardens” required a literature review. This is found in the sections of my UREAP application titled “Brief Lit Review” and “References” on pages 1-5.
The report for my TRU UREAP “The Geographies of the Nature-Culture Interface: A Holistic Evaluation of Kamloops Gardens” included significant discussion of secondary sources. The relevant section of the report is the introduction on pages 5-6 of my UREAP report.
The poster created for the BIOL 4480 Directed Studies project titled “Using Art to Explore Gardener-Garden Relationships” also includes significant discussion of secondary sources. The relevant section of the poster “The Geographies of the Nature-Culture Interface: A Holistic Evaluation of Kamloops Gardens.” is titled Botany and Colonialism.
The essay “Commodification on Mount Everest: A Dangerous Descent” that I wrote for GEOG 4230, Attitudes Towards the Environment included significant discussion of secondary sources, and showcases my ability to evaluate existing research.
