Engaging in Knowledge Mobilization
I have engaged in both traditional and non-traditional knowledge mobilization. It is one of the most enjoyable parts of the research process that I get to engage in. Evidence of my engagement in knowledge mobilization is detailed below.
WDCAG 2025
66th Annual Meeting of the Western Division of the Canadian Association of of Geographers, Thompson Rivers University, March 6-8, 2025.
I gave a talk titled “The Geographies of the Nature-Culture Interface: A Holistic Evaluation of Kamloops Gardens” at the special session titled “Bridging the Gap Between Biology and Geography Through Student Research.” I was also the organizer of this special session. My talk slides are linked here, and my abstract can be found on page 16 of the WDCAG 2025 Conference Program.

TRU Undergraduate Research Conference 2025
Thompson Rivers University, March 24-28, 2025.
I presented a poster titled “The Geographies of the Nature-Culture Interface: A Holistic Evaluation of Kamloops Gardens.” This poster was created for my BIOL 4480 Directed Studies “Using Art to Explore Gardener-Garden Relationships” supervised by Lyn Baldwin. This poster is linked here.

SUPER 2025
The Science Undergraduate Poster Exhibition of Research. Thompson Rivers University, April 3, 2025.
I will present a poster title “The Geographies of the Nature-Culture Interface: A Holistic Evaluation of Kamloops Gardens,” linked here. This poster was created for my BIOL 4480 Directed Studies “Using Art to Explore Gardener-Garden Relationships” supervised by Lyn Baldwin.
Cultural Mapping and the Research-in-Residence as Vehicles for Community Engagement, 2024
Panel presentation given at the Research Colloquium on Engaging Communities through Research Collaboration, hosted by the School of Education at Thompson Rivers University. I participated in the presentation in October, 2024, alongside Will Garrett-Petts, Cheryl Gladu, and Julia Cyr. We discussed our experiences working on You Are Here, a community engaged research project. As a research assistant on this project I shared my experience of working directly with community members, and the benefits and challenges I noticed when conducting research that engages with community. A review of this presentation by Alana Hoare details the main topics, and provides quote from all speakers, including myself.
CURNcast Season 1, 2023
I co-created Season 1 of the CURNcast as part of my work as a TRU Research Ambassador. I worked on ideation, editing, and co-hosted a segment. The CURNcast is an interview-style podcast that aims to dispel research myths and provide students with information about pursuing undergraduate research at TRU. The CURNcast was ideated and recorded in the 2022-2023 school year. I completed the editing of my segment during the Summer of 2023, and the podcast was launched in the Fall of 2023. This non-traditional method of knowledge mobilization through podcasting allowed me to practice putting research-specific information into language that could be understood by a non-expert audience. It gave me an understanding of the importance of accessible knowledge mobilization.

Learning Through Research at TRU, 2023
Presented to the Research Subcommittee of the TRU Senate, 2023. I presented on the educational and personal impacts that I have experienced because of my participation in research at TRU. I focused on the impacts of my time as a TRU Research Assistant. The slides are linked here.
